On March 19, 2008, we implemented a new version of the catalog import. This change will impact only those accounts that are e-commerce enabled. All other account types will not be effected.
The new catalog import will provide the following new features:
- Upload all the information about a category along with the product information. Before, it was only possible to upload the category identifier. Now the name, description, etc can be uploaded.
- The user interface of the catalog import is more intuitive, making it easier to map the import file columns to the catalog database.
- You can make a back up of your catalog independently of an import. Currently, the only way to make a back up was to perform an import.
- The import can eliminate some of the file preparation that was necessary before. It will take a file exported from a spreadsheet without additional manipulations.
Caution: The previous catalog import created a backup of your catalog before the new data is imported. This back up file is stored in your EZ-NetTools account. Once this update is made, the back up file created by the old import program CANNOT be read by the new import to restore your catalog. Contact technical support if you have any questions.
