Lower Cost Equals Successful Green Building
Almost everyone knows what Green Building and Green Products are, but the majority of builders and consumers have not jumped on board the “Green Train” as many in the industry had hoped. There is plenty of anecdotal information as to why, but NAHB and leading building product manufacturers’ representatives wanted to know for sure. They recently sat down together and discussed the problem at the 2011 International Builders Show. The group concluded that Green built homes will take an increasingly large percentage of the market in direct proportion to their price, because home buyers prime motivation today is cost effectiveness.

The 3 Bid Myth;
Why It Doesn't Work
If you needed heart surgery would you ever consider asking 3 surgeons to submit bids and then select the lowest one? The rhetorical answer is of course not. However many home owners think nothing of shelling out thousands of dollars and opening up their home to a remodeler they selected solely on his price.
Granted a remodeling project is not a life threatening operation, but it could have a definite effect on the families well being and financial health for years to come. Many factors other than price need to be considered before you can find the best contractor for a specific project.

The Growing Need For Task Lighting
Do you have an area in your home that is difficult or impossible to read in? Proper distribution of light in a home or work environment is essential. With the growing trend towards energy efficiency and CFL and LED bulbs, task lighting is becoming essential.
Last year we lost the 100 watt incandescent bulb and this year the 75 watt build will disappear and then you can say goodbye to the 60 watt bulb. Once again Congress is making decisions for us, but that problem is a whole other article.
