Hello fellow designers/developers,
I'm interested in getting your thoughts on my website (www.starpointemarketing.com). Particularly the usability of it.
- How easy is it to navigate?
- What suggestions do you have for the structure of the navigation?
- Should it have more/fewer images?

I've checked your site a few times since you began posting. On a quick check now, your "get started" link doesn't appear to be working.

I'll peruse it more and give you my thoughts when I have a little more time. I've been using the tools since '99 and have used them to create over 150 sites. I noticed you're also in Rexburg...did you, or do you now, work for ICServ? |

Also, for years now I've been using Widexl to analyze my meta data. I'm of the thinking that if you want the best search engine optimization company you type exactly that in Google and who ever's first is obviously the best. Or one of the best, a few go back and forth for the number 1 and 2 spots.
The same theory goes for meta tag analyzers. I've typed "meta tag analyzer" in Google for years now and they've always had the top spot. That tells me they're doing something right.
So as a result I use Widexl's analyzer until all my tags are perfect.
I pasted your URL and analyzed it with the following results:
Title: This tag contains too many characters.
This tag contains 99 characters. This is too many for what we would consider a 'robot friendly' web page. The maximum number of characters we recommend for this tag is 80.
Title relevancy to page content is very poor.
The Title relevancy to page content is 25%.
Description:
Description relevancy to page content is very poor.
The Description relevancy to page content is 20%.
Keywords: Keyword relevancy to page content is terrible.
The keywords relevancy to page content is 25%.
Robots: The Robots meta tag contains no errors.
This tag contains 12 characters.
Author: Found no author meta tag.
This tag is not really required but can help for your (company) name recognizing.
End.
In contrast here's the results using the same analyzer from one of my recent sites:
Title: Title meta tag contains no errors.
This tag contains 56 characters.
Title relevancy to page content is very good.
The Title relevancy to page content is 83%.
Description: Description meta tag contains no errors.
This tag contains 109 characters.
Description relevancy to page content is very good.
The Description relevancy to page content is 92%.
Keywords: Keywords meta tag contains no errors.
This tag contains 19 keywords and 186 characters.
Keyword relevancy to page content is very good.
The keywords relevancy to page content is 95%.
Robots: The Robots meta tag contains no errors.
This tag contains 12 characters.
Author: The Author meta tag contains no errors.
This tag contains 46 characters.
End.
In addition I also include specified tags that Widexl doesn't analyze but that are search engine specific. I've seen a noticeable difference in search engine placement since using this free tool.
I just keep adjusting the tags and re-analyzing them until they come back all "green" (meaning positive) with a 80% or better rating.
I scan the code of top placing sites, especially SEO sites, and basically copy what they're doing. I'm not out to reinvent the wheel.

To be honest in didn't really take that long. I've gotten very good at clicking through pages in sites and spotting inconsistencies right away. Your site looks great. The things I pointed out are very minor and don't detract from the site's functionality. Most people won't even see them.
I first started with the tools in '99. They were HB Solutions then. Allan (Bruce Eckman), had hired a, now defunct, company called Dot-Com Solutions based out of Sandy, Utah I believe.
This company went around and put on seminars to recruit resellers for the Tools. I saw the seminar at an airport hotel in Milwaukee, WI and was sold.
Guess how much I spent on the spot to buy 4 EZ-Net accounts to get started?
It was just shy of 2 grand. Back then, EACH EZ-Net account cost me $450.00!! They were all the same then too. You got the e-commerce tools even if you were only an info site! And I had ZERO web experience.
However, back then the cheapest site I did cost $2,000 and the most I made was $8,500.00. That's back when not many people had sites and the Tools were the coolest thing around.
Now there's a million companies doing similar stuff. Everybody from GoDaddy to Yahoo has a web system. Despite some bumps and bruises with ICServ over the years I still only will sell the Tools when people call me.
It's funny to think of the Tools now compared to 1999. We all have our little gripes that we air out here on their forum, but ICServ has grown the Tools by leaps and bounds since then.
By 2002 I was so good with the Tools that I even had one of their tech support guys call ME with a question! I knew him pretty well and the question was one we had just dealt with together earlier in the week. But I still thought it funny.
Their tech support guys have always been the best I've had the pleasure of working with. I've even sent Pizza Hut pizza and soda to the tech guys a few times over the years. I don't really know any of the guys there now though.
I do other work now and only do sites by referral. I actually have a company that I did a site for end up hiring me to do their full time sales and marketing. I took down my site years ago and only maintain a cheapy EZ-Net account to use the email address I've had forever.
