Building Your Business Identity

Several months ago I did a search on Alta Vista and typed in the keyword "EZ-NetTools." I was happy to see the long list of EZ-NetTools™ resellers that came up. I was thrilled to see that our resellers had learned how to submit their pages to the search engines.

Market Changes
Let's take a quick look back. Two years ago, the term "hosting" was barely known. There were 5 main template based companies with solutions on the market and stock market exuberance was just starting to surface within the high tech sector. What's more, Internet related stocks were starting to soar.

Contrast that with the current market situation. Hosting companies are a dime a dozen, template based web site creation packages are popping up everywhere, and the market has corrected forcing Internet companies to show a profit.

The two-year-old business model, embraced by the companies developing the early template based solutions, assumes that businesses want to build their own web site and can figure it out themselves. This is a presumptive model and one that fails to realize one of the most important factors - the human touch.

We made a strategic shift in how we would market EZ-NetTools™ about 2 years ago. We realized that since EZ-NetTools™ is targeted to the small to medium sized businesses, it would be more effective to distribute EZ-NetTools™ through a network of resellers who could provide that human touch.

Instead of focusing on technical details, you focus on services that you offer as a consultant. To support this new identity is the fact that local businesses are now seeing the value of the Internet for them. Local business directories provide a means to drive traffic to their site. Local interests are moving to the net and gaining momentum!

Two years ago, businesses really didn't see the big picture. This doesn't change the fact that some businesses may want to attack the world market. We can still help them, but my point is that the businesses who used to be shy about it are now opening up! Another sales fact is that if you can meet face to face with people, your sales will substantially increase.

Building this new identity,or profile, will still give you the ability to sell accounts but also provides other ways to make money. You can earn money building web sites with EZ-NetTools™, consulting with your clients, training your clients to update their sites, and as our marketing minds go to work together, we will find even more ways to earn money with EZ-NetTools™.

I can't emphasize enough that the two-year-old approach is ancient history and it is time to modify your business identity. If you don't currently have a clear business profile, you may consider one as an Internet consultant!
