Attention All Authorize.net Users

Recently Authorize.net improved their security for credit card processing. ICServ has modified the EZ-NetTools™ software to take advantage of one of the enhanced security features provided by Authorize.net. That feature is an option to require the Authorize.net password with every credit card transaction. To fully implement these security changes, you must make some configuration changes. We strongly urge you to do the following steps if you accept credit cards online. If you do not use Authorize.net as your gateway, you can ignore these instructions.

Note: While the sequence of these steps may not seem importnat, the second step MUST be done in between the other two steps so that there is no interruption in orders. When step 3 is completed, Authorize.net will not accept any orders that do not have the password. For this reason, it is crucial that you make sure the EZ-NetTools™ system has saved both your User ID and Password.

1. Change Your Authorize.net Password
First, we recommend that you change your Authorize.net password. Follow these steps after logging on to Authorize.net secure services.
  • Click on the Settings link.
  • Select General Merchant Settings and click GO.
  • Enter you current password and then your new password twice.
  • Click submit.

2. Change Your Authorize.net Password in EZ-NetTools™
Through EZ-NetTools™, you need to save your Authorize.net User ID and password. While there are several paths to change this configuration, the most direct method would be:
  • Click on the EZ-Order link in the Construction Tools.
  • Click on the Payment Options.
  • Credit cards should be selected.
  • Click on the Configure link by the credit card option.
  • Under the Gateways make sure that Authorize Net is selected, then click on the Configure link.
  • Type in your Authorize.net Login ID and password.
  • Submit the changes.

3. Change Your Settings in Authorize.net
Now, you will need to return to Authorize.net to change your settings. Do the following steps.
  • Click on the settings link
  • Select Automated Direct Connect (ADC) settings and click the GO button.
  • Under the related settings section, select YES to require Password for all transactions.
  • Click submit

4. Testing 1, 2, 3
Finally, run a test transaction through your site to verify that the configuration is functioning correctly.

Conclusion
The new features offered by Authorize.net are a tremendous advancement in their efforts to protect you from online fraud. It is imperative that you implement the above steps immediately to take advantage of them. Also, you are the only way that your members who have EZ-NetTools™ websites with you will find out about this. So, you should notify your members that process online credit card transactions through Authorize.net and suggest that they follow the same steps.
