The finish on this home was particularly difficult to remove. The builder used Behr Rawhide stain. The finish felt like sap and was very blotchy. This restoration took several different cleaning approaches. Cob blasting was our first option but it really only scratched the surface.
Chemical Stripping killed the mold and mildew that had developed but really did not remove much of the stain.
In the end we hand-sanded the entire home. Staining over the old product would have prevented the new stain from adhering properly so we worked until we had nearly 100% of the old finish off.
Restoration like this does take more time but when the process isn't rushed excellent results like these can be acheived...
