Meeting Minutes
April 22, 2003
4:00 P.M.
Committee Members:
Keland Draney, Joseph West, Shauna Lee, Larry Prescott, Preston Haley, DaNiel Jose, Derek Payne, Keith Davidson, Louis Clements, Jack Bowman, Mike Clements, Commissioner Reed Sommer, Byron John, Kurt Hibbert, John Millar, Walter Deitz.
In attendance:

Status of current project behind Kmart.
The leveling of this area by bulldozer has not taken place yet. Byron John has had the
landscaping maps for about a month. It was suggested that a BYU-Idaho student be assigned by
Byron John to head the landscaping of this area. The student and Byron John should do a walk
through before and after leveling to give input for the placement of earth. Irrigation and electricity
need to be installed prior to paving. Placement will depend on landscaping plans.
Standards for landscaping and trail accessories (benches, lamps, etc.) need to be set. Use
Byron John in setting and implementation of standards. Concerning trail lighting, what will be the
hours of operation? The cost of electricity must be evaluated. Who will be responsible for the cost
of electricity?
DaNiel Jose and Keith Davidson met with a representative from Amcor concerning the
bridge on the L.P. property. Amcor will make a bid on the project.
Clean up areas
A number of groups were suggested for the clean up of trail areas, including BYU-Idaho
students, county inmates, and community service detail groups.
Project near treatment plant
A map of this area with its associated project sections will be added to
www.madisonrivers.org. A packet for each section will be made for service project groups. A
service log will be kept with each packet to record all volunteer names and hours. This information
could be a support tool in the application of future grants.
Committee members
It was proposed that a Vice-Chairperson be assigned to cover Chairperson's duties in the
event of their absence. DaNiel Jose and Joseph West were nominated. A final decision was not
made.
It was proposed that public relations representative from the committee be appointed to
solicit media coverage from various agencies.
Meeting time change
Madison Rivers Greenways committee meetings have been changed from at 4:00 PM 5:00
PM to 5:30 PM 6:30 PM every other Tuesday. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday May 6th,
2003.

Keland Draney - Contact Jack Bowman concerning clean up behind Kmart.
Larry Prescott - Contact Byron John concerning landscaping project by a student.
Contact Janet Goodliffe concerning grant writing for committee.
Derek Payne - Will take minutes and email to Joseph West for committee meetings. Email Map and Project Sectioning to Joseph West.
Keith Davidson - Get information about concrete pillars from Dusty at Road & Bridge.
