Before you adopt a dog, ask yourself these questions:
1. Do I have time for a dog? Dogs are social animals, they need to be with you, not stuck on the end of a chain, or always in the backyard. You should plan on keeping and caring for your pet for his/her entire life.
2. Am I prepared for possible problems related to bringing a new dog into my home? Moving into a new home can be frightening and dogs may need special attention during the transition into a new family. Check out Dumbfriends League at www.ddfl.org for tips on handling behavioral problems. Go to our "Links" page for a direct link.
3. Do I know what breed or type of dog is best for me and my temperament? Investigate breed characteristics/personalities before adopting to try to find the best match for you.
4. Can I pay for veterinary care? Your dog will need it.
