ArtScapes Wins National Telly Award!

“ArtScapes, The Power of Culture & Art” is an award-winning documentary that explores the power inherent in Art and Culture bringing it into our everyday lives, and enriching us. Originally aired on PBS.

"ArtScapes" won the prestigious National Telly Award in 2000. It first aired in May, 2000 on PBS during "sweeps week". The program director had this to say about the program:

"We are very excited about "ArtScapes". A very impressive program. The camerawork is suberb and the hosting is intelligent and stylish. We are going to premiere it during our sweeps week in May. That's how much we like the program. Kevin Harrington and Joanna Jeronimo should be proud."

Synopsis

ArtScapes, The Power of Culture and Art focuses on the cultural beliefs, ideas and skills of artisans and visionaries that are, in fact, restoring the vitality of the planet and its inhabitants through their art and cultural practices.

There are six unique stories in this edition of "ArtScapes" and each story relates to one of these aspects - healing the human body, spirit, and the environment. We answer the questions: Can a painting heal the human body? Can a voyaging canoe restore an entire culture? Can an art trend save an endangered species?

Filmed in Hawaii, "ArtScapes" captures the breathtaking beauty of the Islands and voyages back thru cultures rich with nourishment for our modern souls and explores the messages sent by the artists and cultural practioners that live and express their wisdom and creativity here.
