I own and maintain a couple of different camera packages including the NEW Panasonic AG-HPX500 2/3" CCD high definition camcorder designed for use with the P2 memory-based recording system.
The camera truly shines in a wide variety of applications previously only possible on the highest-end Varicam. Unlike similar priced camcorders, the AG-HPX500 can shoot a variety of standard definition and high definition resolutions, including 720p, 1080i and 1080p.

All footage is recorded to the industry-standard DVCPRO, DVCPRO50, DVCPRO HD formats, which can be used in almost every professional editing suite. Features such as variable frame rates, 60p, chromatic aberration compensation (CAC), cine-like gamma, and many others provide limitless possibilities for dramatic, documentary, news and sports productions. No matter what the task the AG-HPX500 has it covered.

Do You Need Other Camera Equipment? It is Available.
I have been asked to shoot on practically every format including: HD, Beta-SP, DVCAM, Digi-Beta, DVCPro and Super 16. If your production is spec-ed out for a particular piece of gear that I don't have, I will do my best to get it for you and just charge you my day rate - including multi-camera productions.

My system consists of a G-4 Powerbook with Avid Xpress DV 3.5 software, a second monitor and a ton of external storage. I can do all my edits using high-end features like real-time effects, color correction and multiple video tracks.
In fact, the Avid Xpress DV software is becoming closer and closer to Media Composer. "I never feel like, 'Oh gee, I wish I had more capabilities.' Everything I need to do, I can do 100%. It's pretty surprising that you can get that on a laptop or a desktop."
And in addition, the whole system can be set-up on-location for corporate highlight videos and other fast-turnaround projects.
