 EZ Net Tools Manual
Index The purpose of your electronic commerce site is to enable you to expand your business on the Internet, allowing your customers to find your catalog and place orders even when you are not available. So, much of this manual is devoted to describing the ordinary tasks that must be performed to ensure that your  website is maintained and your orders retrieved.
What does my customer see?

Ok, so what do I have to do each day?

How do I get my orders?

Who do I call when I need help?

How do I change the content of my site?

How do I change the calculations and information on my order form?

I forget how to log on. What now?

What is HTML anyhow? And do I have to learn it? (no!)

However, the functionality of your site can extend far beyond basic order collection. There are system features with which you can improve your site, obtain or use the email addresses of your customers, operate a bulletin board, post a public calendar and  collect customer feedback forms. There are also tools that you can use to promote your business on the Internet, raising the visibility of your site and increasing your revenues.

Your website was built with this sytems high-level tools.  These tools allow the average person to easily create and change the blocks of text and graphics that compose a web page. And to do so without the assistance of an expensive programmer or web designer! You do not have to know HTML, JavaScript or any other computer language to change or add to your site.

The tools are extremely easy to use. If you are familiar with your browser and have done some text editing, you can simply log on the system and start work.

On a general note, you need to remember when you use these tools, you are not working on your local desktop, but over the Internet through your browser. Although browser-based software behaves very much like desk-top software, there are a few significant differences.

Although the output is displayed to you complete with images, browsers are actually text translation utilities. As a result, special key combinations (such as the Alt/E or Alt/F4 combinations commonly used on Wintel machines) are not supported. In most cases, to execute a function, you will have to use your mouse to click on the button images that are displayed on your screen.

Throughout this manual, the on-screen button images are described as 'buttons' and are highlighted in red type.  The keys on your local keyboard are called 'keys' and are not highlighted.  So, if you are instructed to press the ENTER key, this means 'press the key on your keyboard that is labeled "Enter"'. If you are instructed to press the GO button, this means 'click the button on your screen that is labeled "GO"'.

This manual is not a book that you need to read from front to back, chapter by chapter.  It is designed to be read with a browser and you can read it in any order that seems logical to you. Throughout the manual, you will see text that is underlined and displayed in a different color. These highlighted areas are hyperlinks.  Hyperlinks are words, titles, or phrases in a Web page which are linked to another document. Hyperlinks are typically blue and underlined.

For those who like a bit more organization in their document, there is a table of contents and an index. These functions are accessible with icons on the left column of every section.

For your convenience, common questions are listed in a column on the left side of each section. Each question is hyperlinked to the section of the manual where it is answered.

When you first enter the system, you will see a menu with three choices:

Click on any of the three "GO!" buttons below for details.

Administrative Tools: This section describes the tools for accessing or modifying the information (such as orders or  mailing lists) from your website.

Construction Tools: This section describes the tools for defining or modifying the structure of your website.

Promotion Tools: This section describes the tools for improving the public visibility of your website.

There are three manual sections that provide overview information.  One section describes the procedures you need to do every day, such as retrieving your orders.  Another describes how the system looks from the viewpoint of your customer.  And there is a section that gives  Examples of basic HTML code that you can use in your pages
