Volunteer Safety Course
Habitat for Humanity®, Idaho Falls Area, requires that all volunteers new to the organization complete a volunteer safety course before working at a construction site.

The online course is at  www.hfhvolunteerinsurance.com.  If you do not have access to a computer with Internet service, please contact our office.

We recommend that you carefully read and follow the instructions at hfhvolunteerinsurance.com.  You will see two blue buttons on the right hand side labeled Step 1 and Step 2.  Click the Step 1 button.

You will see this screen.

Item 3 shows an access code.  You will need to write down this code to use in Step 2 when you register for a class OR select the code, then Copy and Paste into the login box in Step 2.  All Habitat® volunteers use this code.  After you have the code, close this page/screen, which will return you to the introductory page - the first one shown above.

Now click on Step 2.  You will see a login screen.  Type or copy the access code into the box that says Employee Access Code and click Submit.

The safety course catalog screen appears (courses are available in Spanish from ths screen)
Scroll down to and select the course "Volunteering on a Habitat for Humanity Work Site".  This is the mandatory safety course.  The course will load and run automatically.  When the presentation finishes you will take a quiz.  Once the quiz starts you cannot go back to review the material.  Click the green square to start the quiz.

When you finish you will be given a score and a Pass/Fail.  If you pass, follow the directions to the course completion screen to register for your Certificate, which will be sent to the Idaho Falls Area office.  Your Location and our official name is Idaho Falls Area.

There are many other safety and construction courses listed on the catalog page.  They are available to volunteers, and you are welcome to complete as many as you would like to.

You will have to register at the jobsite if you have not attended one of our affiliate's regular monthly orientations. Click here for our calendar for upcoming orientation dates.

Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity®

Members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans®, and the local Upper Snake River Chapter as part of Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity® have  partnered on three homes in the Idaho Falls area.  Thrivent Financial fraternal benefit society is a membership-owned not-for-profit financial services company which supports the values of faith, family, stewardship and service. You or your church community can volunteer build hours on a Thrivent Builds Habitat® home.  Click here to find the Thrivent Builds site nearest you -follow the links to express an interest in volunteering.

Apply to be a Build Partner Homeowner
If you or someone you know is in need of decent, affordable, sustainable housing, please contact us for more information about the competitive application process for Habitat® home ownership.  You can come in to the Idaho Falls Area ReStore®, 238 Northgate Mile, Idaho Falls and ask for an application packet, or download or print the application forms by clicking here.

Partner families must have lived in the Idaho Falls area for at least one year and must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Habitat® homes are simple, no-frills, affordable, sustainable, energy efficient and built in modest income neighborhoods. Habitat® Idaho Falls Area uses several floor plans from the National Affordable Housing Network.

Partner families save many thousands of dollars on build costs, loan fees and mortgage interest.  Habitat® builds homes with partner family and volunteer labor using donated materials and sells the home to the family at no profit — the home price to the family is usually substantially lower than comparable housing.  Habitat® charges no interest on the mortgage.  Mortgage payments are affordable and go into a revolving Fund for Humanity® which is used to build more homes.

Non-discrimination and Accommodation Statement
Habitat for Humanity International® and Habitat Idaho Falls Area are committed to equal housing opportunity and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, age, sexual preference, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, marital status, public assistance, handicap or familial status (for HFHI and HUD, familial status means either a family of one person or the presence or absence of children in a family).

RV Care-A-Vanners®
This is a volunteer program for people who travel or live in RVs.  Care-A-Vanner® build events typically last for two weeks.  No construction experience is necessary and there are many non-construction jobs on a build site if you prefer not to be involved in construction.  Pets are not allowed on a job site.  We provide hard hats and safety glasses; you will need to bring sturdy shoes and sturdy gloves.  Our affliate will arrange for RV parking.  Pre-registration for a specific build is required.  For more information about the Habitat for Humanity International® Care-A-Vanner® program and to register to work on a build, click here.  Please complete the Volunteer Safety Course (see instructions above) before you arrive at the build site.

A Brush With Kindness
These are smaller home repair projects for families that already have a home but need help.  These families go through an application and selection process similar to the partner family process.
