Rocky Mountain Supply Donates Pavers to Build 26
Rocky Mountain Supply of Idaho Falls donated 800 square feet of pavers to our current home build, together with the shipping, handling and delivery cost, because they believe that Habitat is a worthy cause. They previously donated manufactured stone which is being stored for use on a future build. In September the pavers were installed by volunteers and the partner homeowner and family.
Devereaux Family and LaRall Kent photos
As soon as the paver patio was laid the partner family children began to use it as a play area. Here they are playing a game of "chase" around the house.
Rocky Mountain Supply has sales locations in Jackson Hole, Pocatello, Boise, Twin Falls and Idaho Falls. You can request a free estimate from a form on their web page.
We and our partner family appreciate and are grateful for the support of this local business.

sPanels LLC of Idaho Falls Donates Panels for Build 26
Habitat Idaho Falls Area is the recipient of structural insulated panels (SIPs) made for Build 26 and generously delivered and donated by Jackie Mitchell of sPanels LLC of Idaho Falls. We are grateful for and thank sPanels for their support.
Northwest Foam Products of Twin Falls donated a portion of the expanded polystyrene foam which went into the panels. Habitat Idaho Falls Area supplied the plans which sPanels used to create fabrication drawings. G&S Structural Engineers of Idaho Falls donated time for the engineering calculations required by Bonneville County.
sPanels has been in business since 2004 and is a member of SIPA (Structural Insulated Panel Association). You can click here to read and/or download the company's brochure and learn about the panel fabrication process and the benefits of building with SIPs. sPanels products have a limited 20 year defect or delamination warranty. SIPs were adopted into the International Residential Code by the ICC (International Code Council) in 2007. Other technical information is available here.
Greg Mitchell, who is the logistics planner for sPanels, supervised the process and coordinated the materials that went into the panels. Chris Wallis is the sPanels fabricator and estimator who made the panels. Stephen Magnan is the sPanels drafter who used CAD to draw up the panels and provided the information for this article.
All three donated their time and were on hand June 23 to provide on-site technical assistance to guide and help the Habitat volunteer work crew lay out the panels and put them in place.
By 2:30 in the afternoon the work was complete.

Builds 23 and 24 Tested for Energy Efficiency
by Vital Spec of Sun Valley, Idaho
Builds 23 and 24, which were dedicated on October 29, were tested by Jolyon Sawrey of Vital Spec Inc. for infiltration of the homes' thermal envelope and heating unit efficiency. The City of Ammon references the International Residential Building Code for the part of the Certificate of Occupancy inspection that evaluates the size and air delivery of the registers and the heating unit. Each home tested better than the city requirements. The International Energy Code evaluates infiltration of insulation, windows and doors.
Blower door test results show that these units peform 50% better than the code requires.
Jolyon's test results document that these two homes are the most energy efficient of the five homes built by Habitat® Idaho Falls Area that he has tested. Habitat's® mission is to build simple, decent, affordable shelter. Our Partner Families will live in comfortable, draft-free homes and spend a very modest portion of their budgets on heat.
Vital Spec donates more than 50% of their fees and travel costs to Habitat® Idaho Falls Area, about $1,141 to date. We are grateful for their ongoing support of the Habitat® mission. The company serves all of Idaho and western Montana.
